Embrace you during every long night

CONCEPT

What’s the essence and meaning of a table light?

How’s the feeling that a light can bring us at night?

Starting from these two questions, I think it’s being accompanied, protected and feeling warm.

For their origin, my answer is the peace of mind, and the feeling of relief.

Then, how to get this kind of feeling?

By exploring my life experience, here comes the concept:

Surrounded By Mountains; and 3 keywords: Lake, Mountains, Moon.

IDEATION

In the beginning, I focused on making the lake part be the illumination.

In the end, I decide to concretize the reflection of the moon in the lake which became a real sphere.

Also, keep the function of mountains to diffuse and soften the light, and simplify the form of mountains.

TESTING PROTOTYPE

Before determining the actual form,

I roughly made several prototypes to define the shape and proportion among each component,

helping myself develop the final appearance.

FINAL MODEL

The final 3D printing model is made of translucent and opaque PLA material.

Because of the one-piece feature of 3D printing, the lake part can seem as a shallow sink which is water-fillable.

USAGE SCENARIO

It’s able to pour essential oil with water in the lake part,

making Tarn become an aroma diffuser by heating up the liquid to evaporate, increasing the feeling of relief.

PRESENTATION

Here comes the Tarn, a mountain lake, inspired from being surrounded by mountains.

This entire light is like mountains embracing us.

We are like the sun, after working in the daytime, feeling tired and frazzled, becoming the reflection of the moon lying in the lake.

For its function, the intense brightness can be softer through the screens of mountains.
